The Cost of a Living Simple Weekend

Posted on

Train ride from Elbe to 018This last weekend was the perfect example of a Living Simple weekend.

We did hours of gardening, preparing the soil for planting in a few weeks.  We got our hands good and dirty, and knelt in the dirt, and smelled that rich Earth and laughed constantly while we were working.

We watched our new neighbors move in, a young couple with two small kids, all excited about their first home and all of the possibilities that await them.loving life on a hike

We took a couple breaks and went to Dairy Queen for ice cream cones.  Food for the soul.

We watched DVD’s together and made meals together and yes, loved together.

We visited with my son and his girlfriend, and took care of Bev’s grandson.

Total expenditure for the weekend:  $13.  That included two mochas and four ice cream cones.

The value of this weekend:  Immeasurable!

I love my life!

  2. Man, I wish we had a Dairy Queen nearby. But we had a great weekend, too. We drove along the countryside (snapping photos for my project the whole way) and visited with family who is in town. Shared dinner and stories and it’s incredible what time with loved ones provides us. 🙂

  4. Hey Bill, you’ve got to post pics of your garden when they come in. Veggies? Flowers? What are you guys planting? (sorry if I missed it in another post)

    • Hey Chris, we will. We won’t plant for another few weeks to make sure the last frost is gone, but once we plant I’ll take pictures at different stages and then write a hub about it. We doubled the size of the garden this year. To answer your question there will be ample vegetables as well as flowers and a few fruit trees.

  6. Loved this Bill, so much accomplished that was about enjoying the simple pleasures of life often taken for granted. $13 well worth every cent. When are the chucks arriving? Did I miss the arrival?? Looking forward to more pics too of Bill & Bev’s garden!

    • Hey Suzie, nice of you to drop by and visit. I’ll have tea ready next time if you let me know you are coming. 🙂 The chicks will be another month; still not done with the coop. 🙂
