Wordless Wednesday Celebrating Nature and the Simple Life

Posted on

summer of 2010 006Wordless Wednesday.  I’m doing this in honor of Cyndi, Mel, Janine and all others who take part in this blogging tradition.  No other reason.  Hell, I don’t even know what Wordless Wednesday means.  LOL

So the picture is of the Nisqually River as it leaves Mt. Rainier on its way to Olympia and the Puget Sound.  It travels about eighty miles on its journey, and this picture was taken in June two years ago.  You can see from the turbulence that the spring melting of snow is in full session.  The river mellows out as it approaches Olympia, and it is quite a good salmon and steelhead river for those who enjoy fishing.

Its estuary is the Nisqually Wildlife Area, a great place for bird watching and nature hikes, and for kayakers a wonderful place to see a tidal estuary.

Living in this area is such a rush for the senses.  We have so much natural beauty all around us, with rivers and lakes and mountains and saltwater beaches. I think sometimes we take for granted all that is around us.  We see it daily and we forget just how beautiful it is here….then someone will come to visit and they will be in awe of it all, and we are reminded that we really do live in a natural paradise.

I picked this photo from hundreds I have of our majestic Pacific Northwest. I love Nature.  To me, Nature exemplifies perfectly the Living Simple philosophy.  Who needs to spend a lot of money for amusement when we have this in our very backyard?

  1. So very true Bill and I too love nature. We are pretty lucky that we have some wonderful beaches and the Atlantic Ocean is literally no more then 10 minutes south of us. Always been so thankful for that, because the outdoors and especially that part particularly. Thanks for sharing and absolutely looks like a beautiful and wonderful place to be able to visit!! 🙂

    • Janine, we have the ocean, too, but it’s not a fun place to visit. The water is way too cold and even in the summer it is a bit chilly there. Inland, though, is a paradise for sure. 🙂 Thank you as always my friend.

  2. Pacific is on our side, and always cold…brrr.
But, water always makes the landscape so calm, serene and gives peace!
    Love the pix, bill.

No really, this is a gorgeous photo and if you say you have hundreds, I’m saying you need to share more because I’m drooling for the Northwest. 🙂
    I hope you’ve had a good day!
